Last week was a good one for ACT-supported clean energy legislation. SB 16 – Senator Averitt’s omnibus clean air and energy efficiency bill – was passed by the Senate and now moves to the House. Additionally, Senator Fraser’s bills on distributed solar generation (SB 545) and setting an aggressive energy efficiency goal for the state (SB 546) both passed out of the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce; they reach the Senate floor this week.

With only six weeks left in the session, it’s time for all of us to join the fight for clean energy legislation. Here’s what you can do today:  Call your senator to tell him or her that you support ACT’s clean energy agenda for renewable power and energy efficiency. Investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency will not only make Texas a cleaner, healthier place to live – they’re essential for Texas to be the energy leader of the next century. Ask your senator to support the strongest measures for energy efficiency (including Senator Fraser’s SB 546) and both utility-scale and distributed generation for solar and other renewable energy (SB 541 and SB 545).

We’ve created a page on the ACT website with the information you need to contact your senator (and find out who represents you if you’re not sure). Thanks for your help in our fight for clean energy!
