Dallas Arboretum – Outdoor Concert/Dinner (10/2/08)

Posted by candace on September 21, 2008

Now that the weather is getting nice, what better way to start off October than with Cool Thursdays at the Dallas Arboretum. Cool Thursdays is an outdoor concert on the Arboretum lawn, overlooking White Rock Lake. http://www.dallasarboretum.org/

On Thursday, Oct. 2nd, The Joe Jonas Band will be performing blues & jazz.  Just so there’s no confusion or disappointment, please note that this is NOT the Jonas Brothers! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=407707093

Date: Thursday, 10/2/08

Time: Gates open at 6 pm. Show begins at 7:30 pm.

Cost: $16 Non-members; $6 members (if you know a member, they can purchase 2 addt’l tkts at the member rate)

Tickets: Recommended to buy tickets in advance at http://dallasarboretum-store.stores.yahoo.net/cothinti20.html

Location: Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road Dallas, Texas 75218

How it’ll work:

Please RSVP so we can secure enough lawn space for all of us to sit together.

Since we’re not sure how popular this concert will be, please plan to arrive as close to 6 pm as you can so you have time to park, join us on the lawn, and relax by enjoying your beverage of choice while watching everyone else try to find a seat.

We will be located near the tree closest to the center of the lawn (and the stage). Please call Candace or Peter if you have trouble finding us.

The walk to the concert lawn from the parking lot is approx. .16 miles and takes about 6 minutes. Please consider this when planning what you will bring.

What to bring:

Food/Drink: The easiest way to do this is for individuals/couples to be responsible for their own food and drink. Eddie Deen will be providing food and drinks for purchase at the event.

Outdoor picnic essentials: blanket/cushion for your bum, cups, napkins, water, bottle opener, portable cooler only as large as you need (you’ll have to carry/roll this to/from the lawn); check weather and dress appropriately this is a casual affair.

Chairs: In the past I’ve seen people bring low-rise chairs but I think they’re more hassle then they’re worth. If you choose to bring chairs, they need to have legs < 4″ tall.

All 20s/30s are welcome; you need not be a Sierra Club member to attend. Please RSVP by 10/1 either to the Evite or to youngsierrans@dallassierraclub.org.
