Local Farms

Posted by youngsierrans on September 12, 2007

I’ve been made aware of two local farms that offer gleaning service activities and periodic e-newsletters. I’m in the process of organizing a YS gleaning event for sometime this fall. Feel free to contact these folks directly to be added to their distribution list.

  • Wendy Akin – akinfarmorganic@aol.com – Akin Farm in Terrell, TX
  • Laurie Bostic – barkingcatfarm@mindspring.com – Barking Cat Farm in Rockwall County, TX – www.barkingcatfarm.com

If you’re aware of additional organic or gleaning farms in the area, let me know and I’ll add them to this post.

Sounds like a great idea for a trip/carpooling…

Another local farm that I receive emails from (although I’ve never actually ordered from… yet…) is Heaven Sent Produce: http://www.localharvest.org/farms/M14096
