North Texas Master Naturalist – Calendar & Info

Posted by Peter on November 18, 2009

Looking for exciting opportunities to learn something new about local wildlife or volunteer in the outdoors?  The North Texas Master Naturalist group maintains a comprehensive calendar of events for many of our local environmental preservation and development organizations (i.e., Cedar Ridge Preserve, Native Plant Society of Texas, Texas Master Naturalist, Connemara Conservancy, Heard Museum).  All events are open to the public.

If you’re simply seeking more information on Texas native trees/shrubs/mammals/reptiles, identifying invasive species or educating yourself on the natural history of  North Texas, see the Links page on the North Texas Master Naturalist website.

Dallas Area Meetup Groups

Posted by Peter on May 9, 2007

You’re all probably familiar with meetup.com, a site dedicated to connecting people who share similar interests who live within a common geography. In addition to the many outdoor activities oriented groups, my limited research has produced the following local conservation and environmental groups which exist and appear to be active (let me know if you find others):

Sustainable South Dallas – Urban Conscious Living

The Dallas Backyard Poultry

Dallas Sustainable Living & Organic Gardening

The North Texas Environment

The Dallas Progressive Alternative Energy
