Cyclesomatic – Bike Friendly Oak Cliff Event (2009)

Bike Friendly Oak Cliff is proud to announce Cyclesomatic, a week long bicycle festival in North Oak Cliff from October 2nd to the 11th. Events will include a history-themed group ride, bicycle competitions, Bike to City Hall, Biketoberfest! in Bishop, an Urban Bazaar, a “Kiddical Mass” Ride, Bike to School Day, BBQ, Bands, Bicycle Films at the Texas Theatre, Art Bike Shows, and guest speaker councilwoman Angela Hunt.

New Belgium brewery is sponsoring part of the week, and BFOC is coordinating efforts with DART, BikeDenton, the Oak Cliff Bicycle Company, and more.

10th Annual Renewable Energy Roundup / Green Living Fair – Fredericksburg, TX (9/2009)

Frog Watch – White Rock Lake (2009)

This is not a Sierra Club event.

Ribbit.  Come out to White Rock Lake and help North Texas Master Naturalist Barbara Turner with her Amphibian Watch.  Actually, it’s an amphibian ”listen”, since we identify frogs by their croaks.  Barbara sends data to Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for their statewide Amphibian monitoring efforts.  All ages are welcome to participate.

When: March – October, 2009 (last Friday of each month).
Where: Sunset Bay, on the east side of White Rock Lake (PDF map, #6)

Water-Wise Landscape Tour – Dallas

City of Dallas Water Utilities, City of Dallas Stormwater Management, Texas AgriLife Extension and the Dallas County Master Gardeners are teaming up with surrounding cities to demonstrate the beauty of Water-Wise and EarthKind gardening with the 15th annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour.

Dallas County Master Gardeners will be conducting FREE 15 minute talks on Water-Wise gardening every hour on the hour at each of the tour headquarters. Dallas County Master Gardener volunteers will also be assisting homeowners and helping answer questions about the plants and landscapes on the tour.

Energy Independence: Pickens Plan vs. Gore Challenge – A Debate (3/9/09)

This is not a Sierra Club event and is open to the public.  Guaranteed entertainment for anyone who enjoys a good old fashioned duel.  Kidding.  This debate is presented by The Memnosyne Foundation – “Conversation catalysts from both sides will frame the issues and set the focus for this dynamic community conversation.  Your voice and vision make a difference!”
